Audi of America and Verizon are teaming up to bring 5G connectivity to the Audit of America’s lineup by 2024, ushering in a new generation of automobiles, one in which a car is both a 5G mobile device and a vehicle. The improved connectivity will mean better software performance, enhanced navigation, and faster music and video streaming capabilities.
It also comes as car companies explore new technologies, like V2X communication (vehicle-to-everything), that could enhance safety and drive quality in the future.
Audi and Verizon say the plan is to bring 5G Ultra Wideband technology with mmwave technology to the new vehicles, starting from 2024. The improved connectivity will pave the way for innovative features including driver assistance features, connectivity enables innovations and augmented mobile services.
Other automakers are also making deals to bring 5G into their own vehicles. Last year, General Motors and AT&T have made a similar deal to equip all model of Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles with 5G starting from 2024
