Indian operator  Bharti Airtel has completed a 5G private network Trial in the Bosch Automotive Electronics India (RBAI) facility located in Bengaluru. Airtel’s on-premise 5G Private Network was installed using the trial spectrum 5G allocated by the Department of Telecom (DoT).
Airtel has developed two use cases that are industrial grade for improving quality at Bosch’s manufacturing facility using this trial spectrum. According to Airtel the private network is able to handle thousands of connected devices.
Thanks to the Airtel 5G Private Network, in the Bosch Manufacturing Execution System, it was possible to reduce the the amount of time needed to determine the quality of products by using Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) of devices mounted on surfaces. It was made faster through the faster transfer of data via secured networks to an AI/ML server that allows for instantaneous decision-making using the Bosch Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
Airtel 5G also helped Bosch shop floor managers to identify and address issues in real time, thereby decreasing the mean Time To Repair (MTTR ) and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
