Vodafone Spain launches 5G FWA services

Vodafone Spain has officially launched its ‘5G Hogar’ (‘5G Home’) service after unveiling the corresponding self-installing router at MWC 22 earlier this year. Described as a complementary service to the operator’s fibre offer, 5G Hogar will initially be available in parts of Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Malaga, Bilbao and La Coruna, ahead of a progressive rollout to another 65 cities.

The company said the corresponding cylindrical router is designed to connect up to 35 devices at fibre-like speeds of up to 1Gbps via its 5G network, which will be available in 1,000 localities and 46 percent of Spain’s population by the end of the year. Vodafone was keen to emphasise that, unlike fibre connections, gigabit speeds can be accessed in the customer’s main residence as well as in any other covered destination via the portable router.

Vodafone 5G Hogar costs EUR 31 a month for unlimited broadband data plus a fixed line with unlimited calls, rising to EUR 49 for an additional mobile line with unlimited data at 10Mbps download speeds and EUR 55 for an additional mobile line with unlimited data at maximum speeds plus Vodafone TV with 30 channels.

However, all plans require a further monthly payment of EUR 5 over 36 months for the 5G Hogar router.
