Telemach Croatia Leverages 5G to Combat Pollution in the Adriatic Sea

Telemach Croatia has launched the “Happy Sea” initiative, a novel project that integrates advanced 5G technology and educational outreach to address pollution in the Adriatic Sea. In partnership with DIH Innovamare and the Ruder Boskovic Institute, the initiative emphasizes youth awareness, community engagement, and marine ecosystem protection. Key activities involve student workshops, local beach clean-ups, and underwater cleaning operations utilizing sophisticated technology such as the autonomous vessel Faust V and specialized underwater drones. Telemach’s high-speed 5G network supports these operations by enabling real-time monitoring and precise identification of seabed contamination.

DIH Innovamare significantly contributes to the project by promoting sustainable maritime practices and developing innovative marine services, achievements that earned it the Blue Champion award for outstanding efforts in marine biodiversity preservation and water restoration. Additionally, the Ruder Boskovic Institute plays a pivotal role by connecting scientific research to practical, sustainable solutions.

This latest initiative aligns with Telemach Croatia’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, building upon previous projects that include drone-supported forest surveillance and environmental education programs reaching thousands of children.
