MIMO – In radio, multiple-input and multiple-output or MIMO, is a method for multiplying the capacity of a radio link using multiple transmission and receiving antennas to exploit multipath propagation –SU-MIMO – In LTE legacy, most of us are aware of it as it is being used from years. With SU-MIMO multiple data stream (2×2 or 4×4) will be transmitted to single user at a time while others have to wait for their turn with round robin method. In Simple words multiple data stream cannot be transmitted to more than one user simultaneously.
MU-MIMO – With MU-MIMO multiple data streams can be transmitted to more than one users in parallel. 4×4 MU-MIMO supports 4 users simultaneously and 8×8 MU-MIMO supports 8 users simultaneously. This makes spectral efficiency much better. Both SU-MIMO and MU-MIMO are designed to work with both FDD and TDD operation
